My name is Sarah Murray, LLMSW, and I am a clinical therapist who specializes in trauma-informed and evidence-based mental health and addiction treatment. I help teens and adults understand the root of their symptoms, build emotional stability, and make meaningful, lasting change. My primary areas of focus include addiction and recovery, trauma and PTSD, co-occurring disorders, anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, and domestic violence dynamics. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can grow and heal.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Baker College of Clinton Township and my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Michigan State University. I am also a Certified Prevention Specialist through MCBAP, with specialized training in addiction, substance use prevention, and early intervention.
Over the past seven years, I have worked extensively within the criminal justice system, facilitating treatment groups, providing individual support, and helping clients navigate trauma and substance use challenges. I also have significant experience supporting individuals with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and helping them access and engage in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), collaborating closely with medical providers and community agencies to ensure safe and ADA-aligned continuity of care.
Before joining River’s Edge Counseling Michigan, I completed my clinical internship with the agency, where I began providing therapy and developed my therapeutic style under experienced supervision. This experience laid the foundation for my work in outpatient clinical practice and strengthened my skills in assessment, treatment planning, and trauma-informed intervention.
